Mike planned an incredible weekend away in St. Michael’s, Maryland, at the Inn at Perry Cabin. All I can say is WOW! It was one of the best weekends we have ever had and I cannot wait to go back!
View from our patio.
Friday, June 14th was our actual Anniversary and we left that morning. St. Michaels is only about an hour and a half from our house so we took our time and stopped and enjoyed outlet shopping on the way. Judy was nice enough to take the day off to watch Jax and be home when Ethan got home early on his last day of school.
Mike at our patio door.
The Inn is the most incredible place ever! The service is top notch and our room, views, food and everything else far exceeded any expectations I could have ever had.
The view and patio were just amazing!
Our patio door and room from the other side of the incredible flowers.
There was a lovely Anniversary Note and bottle of wine from the Inn waiting for us in our room.
After checking out the room and view, pouring ourselves a glass of wine we checked out the Inn a bit more.
We found ourselves poolside with mixed drinks in our hands.
New favorite summer drink…Frozen Mango Mojito!
After vegging out for a bit, as we had shopped the outlets on the way down and then walked half of town exploring the fun little shops before checking in, it was time to head for the big 10 Year Anniversary Dinner. We drove to Oxford, MD for crabs at our favorite crab place The Masthead. The crabs had just come in off the boat that morning and they were incredible.
Crabs are my absolute favorite food and these were the best we have ever eaten!
The view was amazing and we sat there picking crabs watching the sunset go down.
The day could not have been more perfect!
Did I mention how yummy they were?
Mike is so adorable!
When we arrived back to the Inn we hit the cozy bar across from our room and enjoyed chatting with another couple at the bar for a few more hours. It really was a perfect way to spend our 10 Year Anniversary!
I am an early riser and sat on the patio the next morning and watched the sunset come up over the river!
What a wonderful way to start your day!
As is was still early I decided to check out the Inn a bit more.
I liked the umbrella tree they had.
One of the sitting rooms.
Clock as it was chiming 6am
Did I mention the keys to our rooms were actual keys, not cards. Adorable! Along with the bag I found hanging on our door that morning containing our newspaper.
I also forgot to mention how cute it was that our ice bucket was filled with cold ice when we arrived!
Another adorable thing was for turn down service they put little mats next to each side of the bed and laid out slippers! Oh and the cookies they leave are amazing!
After wandering around a bit more, I headed back to the room and Mike was just getting up. We quickly changed and went for a run together. It was so fun running though this sleepy little town before anyone else was up not to mention Mike and I never run together, so that was a treat in itself! I was thrilled that when we got back there was now coffee in the sitting area. Yea! and it was good coffee too! I quickly hit the showers and Mike enjoyed sitting outside for a bit.
We were reading the same book and spent a lot of time just relaxing and reading together enjoying the different views.
As part of my getaway weekend Mike had booked me a massage at the spa there. Ok it I can’t lie, it was awesome! Especially after a busy day the day before, and our morning run, I mean hello, all of that followed by a 9am massage! When I got back Mike was ready to Pop the Champagne we had been saving.
Now the morning was the most awesome imaginable!
We sat outside and watched the boats and people go by.
All I can say is I was feeling extremely relaxed!
The flowers everywhere were incredible and I LOVE flowers!
After enjoying a few glasses of champagne we decided to head into town. There were a few shops we hadn’t done the day before that I wanted to check out and we were starting to get pretty hungry. While walking around we stopped at our favorite coffee place and enjoyed a pick me up. The Lily’s were beautiful!
After a delicious lunch at this incredible little pizza and wine place ( The strawberry sangria was amazing!) we did a bit more exploring around town. We found some great shops including what a distillery that’s not quite open yet, but I loved the sign!
We did indeed buzz and talked to owners for a little bit. We are very excited to head back when they open! And as if we had not had enough to drink we hit the St. Michael’s Winery for a tasting.
Maryland doesn’t make great wine, but we enjoyed the tasting and headed back to the Inn.
It was a beautiful day so we changed into our swimsuits and headed to the pool where I passed out for a much needed nap! We did of course enjoy the pool bar a bit more:) Then we wandered around a bit and just chilled by the water.
The back of the Inn again, with our door and patio. After walking around as much as we did, we came to realize we did get one of the best rooms there. Perfect location, perfect water view, and part of the main house.
The door you see is our patio door:)
After wandering around a bit we grabbed two of the complimentary bike they provide outside and peddled our way into town. I won’t like this was one of the highlights of the trip, you are on these adorable bikes ridding though this quaint busy town with the love of your life, I mean come on? Does it get any better?
We found this awesome little bar down one of the side streets, parked our bikes on one of the many bike racks and enjoyed a cocktail by the river.
After relaxing a reading a bit more we headed to this cute little Mexican place I had seen on the edge of town. We ate outside at one of the 6 tables and gorged ourselves on amazing food! I mean AMAZING FOOD! Mike’s beer glass was pretty cool!
We saw they were setting up for a wedding.
When we got back from town everything was still up and we could get a closer look. OMG you should have seen how beautiful everything was!
It was fun listening to the party that was happening in the giant tent further down.
We enjoyed walking around and discovered the crochet court and had a blast pretending how to play and having ball races.
We also tried our hand at bocce ball.
As night was falling we headed back around the back of the inn and enjoyed the sunset.
The Inn is just a beautiful at night.
I decided to relax on a bench for a bit.
The bugs were starting to eat us so we headed in.
We decided to enjoy our evening cocktail cuddled together on the leather couches that sit in the library off the bar. So you sit there and they bring you snacks and drinks while we talked and laughed. Another perfect ending to an absolutely incredible day! Oh except they forgot our cookies at turn down service so I had to call (they were that good!) and I was thrilled when they handed me two packages not just one;)
The next morning we enjoyed the sunrise together on our patio.
After the sun was up we grabbed two bikes from out front and rode into town. It was so fun riding though town when it was empty! We found a fun little path and enjoyed a very nice bike ride though a marshy preserved park area complete with bike paths. The paths circled back to our favorite coffee spot so we stopped in there to grab some hot coffee and were very disappointed to see they were not open yet. I guess that’s what you get in a small town on a Sunday. No worries we quickly used our phone found the closest place that was open and rode there. It was three miles outside of town and the most adorable coffee shack you have ever seen!
I had grabbed the newspaper on our way out the door that morning and put it in my bike basket so we sat outside the coffee shack on one of their two picnic tables (you don’t go in, it’s literally just a walk up window, don’t let the door fool you) sipped our coffee and read the Sunday paper together. We finally got on our bikes and headed back. We both showered and read outside for a bit and then it was time to check out and head home. It was Father’s Day and Mike wanted to see the boys and were having a cookout at my parents.
It really was the most incredible weekend ever and I cannot wait to go back. It was a perfect way to celebrate 10 years of marriage and I am happy to say we are even more in love with each other now, than we were then!
(and thinner too!)
